Dr. Syed Abdul Siraj

Syed Abdul Siraj is a Professor and Chairman Department of Mass Communication at the Allama Iqbal Open University Islamabad, Pakistan. He carries over 30 years of teaching and research experience at University level. He has been visiting scholar at foreign and national Universities. Dr. Siraj holds Masters’ in Journalism with distinction, Doctorate in Mass Communication (Pakistan) and Post-Doctorate research at the Southern Illinois University Carbondale (USA). He has vast experience of curriculum development in the field of Mass Communication. Dr. Siraj has authored 35 research papers published in national and international research journals. Syed Abid Ali Shah

Prof Dr Engr Syed Abid Ali Shah is currently working as Chairman Department of Civil Engineering, International Islamic University Islamabad. He did his PhD in Civil Engineering from the University of Leipzig Germany in 2003. From 2004 to 2006 he served in South Africa as Senior Lecturer. From 2006 to 2009 he worked as JSPS Postdoctoral Fellow at University of Tokyo and Tokyo Institute of Technology Japan. From 2009 to 2011 he served as Associate Professor of Civil Engineering at King Saud University Riyadh Saudi Arabia. From 2011 to 2013 he worked as Alexander von Humboldt Foundation Postdoctoral Fellow at University of Siegen Germany. From 2013 to 2016 he functioned as Chairman Department of Civil Engineering, Sarhad University Peshawar. From 2016 - onwards he is working as Full Professor Civil Engineering at International Islamic University Islamabad. His research interests include Civil and Environmental Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering, Structural and Earthquake Engineering etc.

Dr. Abid Suleri

Dr. Abid Qaiyum Suleri is Executive Director of Sustainable Development Policy Institute since 2007. He earned his PhD in Food Security from the Natural Resources Institute (NRI), University of Greenwich, United Kingdom. Currently, he is also serving as member of National Economic Advisory Council; member of Advisory Committee of National Planning Commission; and member of the National Advisory Committee jointly formed by Government of Pakistan and the USAID for Pakistan Strategic Support Program. Dr. Suleri is invited to give policy advice on various other policy forums and advisory boards at national, regional, and international levels. He has also served as Member of Board of Management of Pakistan State Oil (PSO), and chaired PSO Board’s Audit and Finance Committee from 2010-2012. He is an Adjunct Professor of Institute of Business Management Sciences, University of Agriculture Faisalabad and also serves on Board of Studies of various universities. Prior to joining SDPI, he served as Head of Programs, OXFAM GB Pakistan. He has conducted intensive research on “Resilient Livelihoods”, “Food Insecurity”, “Regional Trade”, and “Political Economy of Development”. His other research interests include institutional reforms, non-traditional security threats, and energy governance.He was part of the official delegation of Government of Pakistan to WTO Hong Kong Ministerial Conference in 2005. He was also part of official delegation in Rio+20 United Nations Sustainable Development Conference in 2012. He represented Pakistani civil society at the Doha and Cancun Ministerial Conferences of WTO (2001 and 2003) as well as World Food Summit (FYL).Dr. Suleri imparts trainings and delivers lectures on different aspects of sustainable development to parliamentarians, academia, government officials, journalists, and development practitioners.He has been published in many national and international journals. He also contributes his policy analysis on sustainable development issues in major national and regional papers and is invited as guest analyst in electronic media on political economy of sustainable development.

Owais Afridi

Once a prolific TV news-anchor, host and producer, Mr. Owais is applying his engineering and management skills in the oil and gas industry. He has hosted the national network PTV’s daily business news bulletins Tijarti Khabrein and Business Breakfast, and weekly shows on Pakistan’s political and economic affairs aired on international satellite networks like CNBC Asia, CNA and Zee. He was one of the prominent launch faces for Geo English. He has also worked as a reporter, producer and voice-over artist for many documentaries and feature reports, covering a wide range of social areas and issues, including health, education, minorities, culture and women empowerment. An ardent enthusiast of International Relations and Geopolitical Strategy, and an active member of Chatham House London, he is currently pursuing a post-graduation in Global Diplomacy from SOAS, London. His passion for geopolitics and experience with broadcasting briefly brought him back to the screen as he hosted a weekly show – National Security – on DBTV.

Dr Anwar ul Hasan Gilani

Prof. Dr. Anwar Gilani has more than 40 years of experience in academia, scientific administration, and strategic planning. He received his PhD from the University of Sydney in 1985 on an open merit scholarship. Currently, he is serving as the Vice Chancellor of the University of Haripur. He achieved and maintained 1st National ranking in Pharmaceutical Sciences for the last couple of decades. The Government of Pakistan conferred him the title of Distinguished National Professor and Life-Time Academic Achievement Award in addition to the three civil awards by the President of Pakistan (Pride of Performance, Sitara-i-Imtiaz and more recently Hilal-i-Imtiaz in 2021). He has also served as the advisor to the World Health Organization (WHO) on Essential Medicine and to the International Foundation for Science.

Ahmad Mukhtar

Ahmad Mukhtar has 20 years of experience in public, private and international development sectors, working on national and international/multilateral assignments in the areas of international economic and trade policy, commercial diplomacy, bilateral and regional trade issues and implementation of trade and investment policies. At present, he is working with the United Nations in Geneva. Previously, he worked for the Government of Pakistan and represented Pakistan in the World Trade Organization (WTO) in Geneva, Switzerland during 2006-2011. He has also led the multilateral WTO-DDA negotiations on Domestic Regulations for Trade in Services as Chairman of the WTO Working Party on Domestic Regulations (2010-2011). He has also worked for different international development partners including the USAID, EU, DFID and ADB in different parts of the world. In terms of educational attainments, he has a very rich and unique combination of educational and professional qualifications in Economics (M.A and PGD, PhD in progress), Law (LL.M and LL.B), Public Policy (MPP), Accounting/Finance (FCMA, PFA), and Biotechnology (PGD). He has completed various professional trainings and courses and also delivered many such courses, workshops and lectures globally. He is founding member of the Association of Certified Commercial Diplomats, London (ACCD), member of American Society of International Law (ASIL) and Swiss Arbitration Association (ASA).

Ahmad Rafay Alam

Ahmad Rafay Alam is a Yale World Fellow and partner at Saleem, Alam & Company, a law-firm specializing in the energy, water, natural resources and urban planning and infrastructure sectors. Mr. Alam has vast experience in the areas of environmental and urban law and policy, litigation, public sector regulation and corporate governance, and has acted as Amicus Curiae in a number of environment and urban planning related cases. Mr. Alam has served as Chairman of the Lahore Waste Management Company and Lahore Electric Supply Company and as member of the Punjab Environmental Protection Council and Parks and Horticulture Authority. He was written on environment, climate, water and transboundary issues in various national and international journals and publications.

Aidan White

Aidan White is the Director of the Ethical Journalism Network, a global campaign to promote good governance in journalism across all media platforms, which was launched in 2012.During 2012 he has taken part in major debates on ethics and journalism at international level and has played a leading role in a national campaign on ethics, good governance and self-regulation for media in Pakistan (see He is currently working closely with media development groups in South East Europe. He is the chief external adviser on the creation of a new self-regulatory authority in Egypt and, with local media professionals, has published an Egyptian guide to ethical journalism. He is the former General Secretary of the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) the world’s largest organisation of journalists which he left in March 2011 after 24 years. He was the key figure in building the IFJ from a small European-based network into the world’s largest organisation of journalists with members in 126 countries. As well as extensive journalistic skills, White is an effective communicator and campaigner. Before he joined the IFJ he worked for 19 years as a journalist. He was with The Guardian from 1980 to 1987.

Dr. Aigerim Shilibekova

Dr. Aigerim Shilibekova is the founding director of the Center for International and Regional Studies (est. 2009) at Gumilyov Eurasian National University in Astana. Dr. Shilibekova is also an Associate Professor at the Regional Studies Department, where she has been teaching since 2006. In 2013-2014 she was a Visiting Scholar at Harvard University, where she carried her research project on new threats in Central Asia at the Davis Center for Russian and Eurasian Studies. She is the recipient of a number of fellowships and research grants from various institutions in Europe and Asia, including the Bolashak Scholarship of the President of Kazakhstan in 2013, the Japanese Tokio Boeki Stipend for Talented Young Scholars in 2008 and the Turkish TUBITAK Research Scholarship in 2007. As a researcher she has published numerous articles, policy and two monographs. She is also an author and director of STRATAGEM, the award winning innovative program on educating the 21st century researchers Dr. Shilibekova has a substantial experience in higher education management and administration since 2006. She is also the founder and CEO of BILIMORDA, the first consulting and training company in the sphere of higher education management in Kazakhstan. Dr. Shilibekova holds BA degree in Economics from Taraz State University, Kazakhstan (1999), MA in International Relations from Istanbul University, Turkey (2004) and PhD in Political Science from Eurasian National University, Kazakhstan (2009). She is an alumna of the Executive Education Program for Senior Executives in National and International Security at Harvard Kennedy School of Government (2013). She speaks Kazakh, Russian, English, Turkish, and French and has moderate knowledge of German and Persian.

Amer Raza

Director, Asia-Middle East Mr. Raza has over 25 years of consultancy experience in the field of energy, natural resources, agriculture and healthcare and has represented world known companies in Pakistan. Andrea Calderaro

Dr. Andrea Calderaro is a Senior Research Fellow at the Alexander Von Humboldt's Institute for Internet and Society (HIIG), and a Research Associate at the Centre for Media Freedom and Media Pluralism / Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies at the European University Institute. His research focuses on Internet and International Affairs, with a particular focus on internet governance, EU internet policy, digital rights and freedoms. He is also affiliated to the Internet Policy Observatory at the Center for Global Communication Studies (CGCS) at the Annenberg School for Communication / UPenn, to the Centre for Internet & Human Rights (CIHR) at European University Viadrina, Sidney Democracy Network/University of Sidney, and he serves as Chair of the ECPR Internet & Politics standing group and a member of the Civil Society Information Society Advisory Council (CSISAC) board at the OECD. Dr. Aneela Salman

Dr. Aneela Salman is one such example the nation can feel proud of. She is a senior civil servant from the Pakistan Administrative Service (PAS) with an experience spanning well over one decade. She holds a Ph.D. from Rockefeller College, University at Albany, New York, USA under Fulbright Scholarship. She has done masters in English literature from Kinnaird College Lahore with a gold medal. Earlier, she won Chevening Scholarship in 2005 and did M.Sc in social policy and planning from London School of Economics. She was also awarded Netherlands Fellowship Program Scholarship (2005) for a course on Public Private Partnership at UNESCO-IHE Institute of Water Education, Delft, Netherlands. She also worked as a Senior Research Aide at the Center of International Development, Rockefeller College of Public Affairs and Policy, NY, USA. She taught Public Policy at the Rockefeller College and has presented her research at many international conferences. Belonging to 28th Common batch of civil service, she is currently working as Managing Director, Punjab Education Foundation which is the largest government initiative for providing free education to more than 1.8 million most deserving children in Punjab. She is supervising the biggest ever six year expansion plan to enroll 2.8 million out of school/ dropout children by 2018. She belongs to a Christian family which has a long track record of public-service. Her late father taught in the prestigious FC College and gave some of the best citizens to this nation. Her mother is a retired teacher who dedicated her life to education for giving high values to her students. Four of her siblings were awarded Fulbright scholarships for Master and Ph.D. studies in the US. It is important to note that PEF played a leading role in achieving the goals of School Education Sector Reforms Programs launched by the Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif to open the doors of education to each and every child. As a result of strenuous efforts made by the Foundation, this beneficial program proved a success. PEF is also entrusted to supplement the “Parho Punjab, Barho Punjab.” For this purpose, Aneela Salman has launched various interventions so that more and more children could make it to schools and no one is left behind. She has introduced far reaching reform in the foundation to make it result oriented, efficient and transparent. Her role has been commended both nationally as well as international level. Recently The Economist has appreciated the promotion of education through PEF.

Dr. Anjum Zia

Dr. Anjum Zia is an Associate Professor and Chairperson of Department of Mass Communication Lahore College for Women University, Lahore. She has been in the teaching profession since past 24 years. She took the charge of Chairperson of department of Mass Communication in 2012. The topic of her Ph. D research thesis was “Effect of Cable Television on women in Pakistan; a comparative study of light and heavy viewers in Lahore, Pakistan”. She has been awarded Post Doctorate Scholarship by HEC in 2012, Best University Teacher Award in 2011 by HEC, Frogh-e-Taleem Gold Medal Award in 2011, Excellent Performance Gold Medal 2010, Presented by Azeem Ara Foundation, Lahore and Journalism Fourth Estate Award 2008, presented by Institute of Communication Studies, University of the Punjab, Lahore. The fervent efforts of Dr. Anjum Zia have made it possible the collaboration of various NGOs and organizations with Lahore College for Women University to conduct various research projects which proved beneficial for both the faculty as well as students of Department of Mass Communication.

Dr. A. Ardekani

Arshad Mahmood

Mr. Arshad Mahmood is working in the arena of human rights with a focus on the promotion and protection of child rights in Pakistan for the past 18 years. He worked as Director Advocacy and Child Rights Governance with Save the Children International, as Executive Director Society for the Protection of the Rights of the Child (SPARC) and conducted a number of assignments on Child Protection for UNICEF etc. During his career he has been involved in research and advocacy work including lobbying with government officials and Parliamentarians. He has severally been invited to speak at the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Human Rights. He has also attended Human Rights Council’s sessions and spoke about child rights situation in Pakistan. He has expertise in follow up for the implementation of the Concluding Observations and Recommendations of the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child and Pakistan’s Universal Periodic Review (UPR) Recommendations. He has prepared several reports on various aspects of human rights in Pakistan and was a regular contributor on child rights and juvenile justice to SPARC’s Annual Report the State of Pakistan’s Children. Mr. Mahmood has worked closely with media with a focus on child rights and also contribute regularly to Express Tribune. Mr. Mahmood has done a Masters in Human Rights from the London School of Economics (LSE) and another in Social Anthropology from the University of Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Asanga Abeyagoonasekera

Mr. Asanga is an Author, International Security and Geopolitics Analyst, and Strategic Advisor from Sri Lanka. He is a Senior Fellow at the Millennium Project Washington DC. He has led two Government think tanks, providing strategic advocacy on Foreign Policy and Security in Sri Lanka. He was also the Founding Director-General of the National Security Think Tank under the Ministry of Defence (INSSSL) until January 2020. Mr. Asanga’s new book focuses on Sri Lanka’s Geopolitical Challenges Conundrum of an Island (2021, Published by World Scientific, Singapore), endorsed by Prof. Walter Russell Mead as a “Useful text to understand emerging dynamics of the Indo-Pacific”. He is an Alumnus of the US State Department IVLP, Fellow at National Defense University (NESA, NDU) in Washington DC, Fellow at APCSS (Hawaii) and Young Global Leader World Economic Forum (Geneva). In 2021, he was appointed to the Global Advisory Council along with the former New Zealand Prime Minister Helen Clark and several other distinguished individuals at the Apolitical Global Academy.

Dr. Muhammad Ashraf Khan

Dr. Muhammad Ashraf Khan is Professor and Chairman Department of Communication Studies, Bahauddin Zakariya University, Pakistan. He carries over 28 years of teaching and research experience at university level. He has been visiting scholar at foreign and national universities. Dr. Khan holds masters in Mass Communication with distinction, doctorate in Mass Communication (Pakistan) and Post-doctorate from the Southern Illinois University Carbondale (USA). Dr. Khan completed fellowships from Turkey and United Kingdom in the field of Mass Communication. He also got training in Broadcast Journalism from Staffordshire University, UK. He has vast experience of supervising theses at master and M Phil levels. He is also supervising Ph D students. Dr. Khan has authored a number of research papers published in national and international research journals. He also presented research articles in several international conferences. Dr. Khan participated in conferences, workshops and seminars about mass communication around the country as well . He is member of Board of Studies/Selection Boards as expert for Mass Communication at several universities in Pakistan as well as member of various committees of academic nature. He is also Secretary-National Curriculum Revision Committee for Mass Communication constituted by HEC.

Ashutosh OC Tiwari

Ashutosh Tiwari is the CEO of Sherpa Adventure Gear, a leading for-purpose, branded outdoors apparel manufacturer in Kathmandu, Nepal. Sherpa exports its made-in-Nepal high-end apparels to 21 countries – providing, in the process, jobs to about 1,500 workers, most of whom are rural women. From 2010 to 2014, Ashutosh was the Country Representative at WaterAid in Nepal. In that capacity, he worked closely with policy makers, water engineers, public health experts and community organizations to provide safe drinking water and sanitation services annually to about 60,000 marginalized households across Nepal. From 2012 to 2014, Ashutosh was elected by his international development peers to be the chairperson of 114-member-strong AIN, the Association of International NGOs in Nepal. Working closely with (I)NGO regulators in Nepal, Ashutosh helped, through AIN, start Nepal’s first-ever Disability Job Fair, which brought people with disabilities together with their prospective employers. From 2007 to 2009, Ashutosh was the CEO of Himalmedia, one of Nepal’s most prestigious and influential print media houses. At Himalmedia, he successfully completed two tasks: to turn the company around, financially and operationally, by working closely with journalists, reporters, designers, sales and marketing professionals and editors, and to satisfactorily resolve the company’s labour union issues. In 2008, with two friends, Ashutosh co-founded an online open-source platform called Entrepreneurs for Nepal (E4N), which has now grown to accommodate about 38,000 members, has chapters in two other cities and is credited with starting an entrepreneurial ecosystem for young innovators in Nepal. E4N hosts monthly networking sessions, provides mentoring support, runs boot camps, and helps find investors. Because of his work on E4N, Ashutosh is regularly sought for support, contacts and investment advice by Nepal’s for-profit and social entrepreneurs.Ashutosh started his career in Nepal as a social activist campaigning for the abolition of the practice of bonded agricultural labourers in rural western Nepal. David Fairman is Managing Director at the Consensus Building Institute and Associate Director of the MIT-Harvard Public Disputes Program. He initiated a very promising INNOVATIVE project in collaboration of USAID for commercial production of dehydrate mangos and other fruit for high end international value chain. Our biotechnology project named a consortium of Agribiotech and Tissue culture Technologies International is working on commercial production of banana tissue culture plants in Sindh Karachi and Lahore. He has worked to establish technology based on our local herbal and spice product extraction. He has worked out feasibility studies based on international visits of different facilities and linkage with the top word manufacturer. He also conducted a preliminary study on oleoresin extraction with USAID AMD project.

Ghulam Nabi Kazi

Dr. Ghulam Nabi Kazi obtained his Master’s degree in Public Health from the Boston University School of Public Health in May 1997. After working as a health writing specialist in Bionutrics Inc. USA, he re-joined the Sindh Department of Health as an Additional Secretary and Additional Director, Planning and Development in 1998 and prepared several projects including the Asian Development Bank-assisted Women's Health Project, Tuberculosis Control, and Nutrition. He also collaborated with UNICEF to develop the Women's Right to Life and Health Project to reduce maternal mortality in South Asia. He is currently working as the Chief Executive Officer, Consultant’s Wing Dopasi and Senior Research and Development Adviser of the Dopasi Foundation, in areas such as expanding Tuberculosis care. He also worked as an adviser on Community Diabetes Projects with the UMKC School of Medicine, and served on the Board of Directors of the Medical Missions Foundation, Lenexa, Kansas and UMKC Alumni Board, Kansas City, Missouri, USA. After his return to Pakistan in August 2018, he has sustained his enormous contribution to research and publication of technical documents in the larger public health interest, transcending national and cultural boundaries. He has also been writing on health issues in several leading newspapers of Pakistan.

Gulfam Baghoor

She is an alumnus of the National Defence University by token of the fact that she was a participant of the National Security Workshop 12. Jamila J Aslam was summoned by the High Court Toronto as an expert on Muslim Family Law and the decision of the Honourable Court was taken on the basis of her testimony and expert opinion. The judgment propounded on the intricacies of the Sharia law on family matters. Jamila J Aslam has had the singular honour of having being elevated to the bench of the Lahore High Court as a Justice. During her tenure as Judge of the High Court she was recommended by the Chief Justice of Pakistan to attend a Training of Trainers, three-week course in Halifax, Ottawa and Toronto in Canada. Jamila J Aslam has also had the opportunity of appearing before a Field General Court Martial. This was the first time in the history of the Pakistan Army that a female lawyer was given right of audience before a Martial Law Court. This was also the first time in the legal history of the country that a DNA was admitted as evidence. Jamila J Aslam won this case. Jamila J Aslam has also served as Prosecutor NAB. Johann Brandstatter

Johann Brandstatter, 49, native of the beautiful city of Salzburg in Austria. He started photography with landscape and nature after his father gave him a camera on his twelfth birthday. During his career in the armed forces he began to shoot photo reports, focusing on military and defense issues.From 1989 onwards he documented several trekking and diving expeditions. With the digital revolution in photography, Johann began working as a freelance photojournalist for various newspapers and magazines in Austria and Germany.Johann now is a freelancer for the British nes photo agency Demotix, mostly covering the Balkans and Turkey. Kamal Siddiqi

Kamal Siddiqi is the Director of the Center for Excellence in Journalism at IBA, Karachi. He has over twenty six year experience in journalism. Prior to this, he was the Editor of The Express Tribune, an English language daily in Pakistan affiliated to the International New York Times. He is an alumni of the London School of Economics and a fellow of Stanford University’s Center for Democratic Development and Rule of Law (CDDRL). He serves on the advisory board of the Open Societies Foundation and the Pakistan Chapter of the Coalition for Ethical Journalism. He is also a founding member of the International Press Institute Pakistan Chapter. An alumni of the East West Center, he is also president of the Karachi Chapter of the alumni association. He was part of the US-Pakistan Journalism Exchange and was Jefferson fellow in 2006. In his academic career, he teaches as a visiting faculty at the Karachi University. Previously, he was lecturer in Journalism at Monash University, Australia.

Dr. Karamat Ali

Khusniddin Olimov

Dr. Khusniddin Olimov is a nuclear physicist, currently serving as Professor of Physics at Inha University in Tashkent (IUT, He teaches physics to undergraduate students of IUT. In addition, he is engaged in research work at Physical-Technical Institute of Uzbek Academy of Sciences (Tashkent, Uzbekistan). From 2010 to 2015, he served as Associate Professor in Department of Physics, COMSATS Institute of Information Technology (Islamabad, Pakistan). He received his PhD degree in physics from Institute of Nuclear Physics (Tashkent) of Uzbekistan Academy of Sciences in 2002. Dr. Olimov investigates the properties of a nuclear matter at extreme conditions of high densities and temperatures, created in nearly head on collisions of nuclei, accelerated to velocities close to the speed of light. This dense and hot state of a matter is believed to have evolved shortly after the so called “Big Bang”, which nuclear scientists proposed as a main mechanism responsible for origin of our Universe. Dr. Khusniddin Olimov published about fifty research papers in the reputed international journals on nuclear physics in USA, Germany, UK, Russia, Netherlands, Singapore, and Ukraine. He successfully supervised several PhD and MPhil students in the field of Nuclear and High Energy Physics. Dr. Olimov received Best Young Scientist for 2001 and Best Scientific Research paper for 2010 awards of Uzbekistan Academy of Sciences. In 2007, he was awarded NATO Reintegration Grant of “Science for Peace Program” of NATO (Brussels, Belgium). Besides it, he is recipient of the COMSATS Research Productivity Awards for the years 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015. In 2016, he was awarded TWAS (Trieste, Italy) prize for his research achievements and publications in the reputed international journals. He believes that progress in science and technologies, coupled with their thoughtful and balanced use along with minimizing their side effects to culture and environment, is a key to a sustainable growth of economies of the countries and welfare of the people in the world. Kirsten Mogensen

Ms. Kirsten Mogensen, PhD, is an Associate Professor Emerita at Roskilde University, Denmark. Ms. Mogensen has worked as a journalist since the 1970s in both print and broadcast media. For two decades, she taught journalism at university level. More recently, her research publications have focused on corporate diplomacy, especially international corporations’ relations with local communities. She also works as an international election expert for the EU and OSCE. She has been deployed to many communities around the world, including Asian countries such as Myanmar, Indonesia, and Mongolia. Ms. Mogensen participated in the first Agahi Award ceremony in Islamabad 2012 and has since been a prominent member of the jury panel.

Majyd Aziz

Majyd Aziz, born on 15 August 1950, is an industrialist and businessman based in Karachi. He is the President of UN Global Compact Network Pakistan, Former President of Employers Federation of Pakistan, Former President of Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Former Chairman of SITE Association of Industry, Karachi and Secretary General of English Speaking Union of Pakistan. He was Chairman of Board of Directors of the government-owned SME Bank Ltd, Former Member of Board of Directors of the government-owned Zarai Taraqiati Bank Ltd, Former Member Board of Directors of Karachi Electric Supply Corporation and SITE Ltd. Majyd Aziz is Founding Chairman of Pakistan Sri Lanka Business Forum and Pakistan Indonesia Business Forum while he was the Founding Secretary General of Pakistan Japan Business Forum. He is a Founding Member of Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Youth Development Programme, Workers Employers Bilateral Council of Pakistan, Skill Development Council etc. and Founding Governor of National Center for Dispute Resolution. He is Honorary Citizen of Houston and Austin, Texas, USA. He is also Senior Advisor for Pakistan for Transnational Strategy Group, Washington. He is Member of Governing Body of ILO. He has done National Security Workshop-9 of National Defence University, Islamabad. He did his B.S. General Business Administration and M.A. Management from Ball State University, Muncie, Indiana, USA. He has been on the Board of 17 Universities and educational institutions and is at present on Board of Preston University and Dadabhoy Institute of Higher Education.

Air Marshal Masood Akhtar (Retired)

A fighter pilot for over 33 years and with a Masters in War Studies, Air Marshal Masood Akhtar has lectured extensively on National Security Policy and Air Power Doctrine and Strategy and Leadership at Staff and War Colleges and at NDU. He also defended Pakistan at Royal United Services Institute and Institute of International Strategic Studies in the UK. He evolved and briefed Mian Nawaz Sharif on a “Suggested National Security Policy and Strategy for Pakistan” and anchored a program titled “Debate: Secure Pakistan” at Samaa TV aimed at helping secure the nation. The AM has done highly interactive workshops on Redefined Airmanship, HFACS and Applied Fighter Aerodynamics at the Institute of Air Safety, Pakistan Air Force, and a workshop at National Accountability Bureau about evolution of NAB-Identity.

Dr. Masrur Alam Khan

Masrur Alam Khan is one of the senior most professors of Mass Communication of the country (Pakistan) retired last year being founding head, Department of Mass Communication at National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) Islamabad. He was also heading Department of International Business and Marketing, NUST Business School during his tenure of four years at NUST. During his 44 years of professional career, he established five departments of Journalism and Mass Communication as pioneer i.e., at Gomal University (1974), International Islamic University Malaysia post graduate program (1998), International Islamic University Islamabad (2007), Riphah International University Islamabad post graduate program, (2009) and National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST- 2010). He started his career from Pakistan Television Lahore just after obtaining masters in Journalism (1970) with distinction and received his doctorate in Communication from the University of the Philippines Systems in 1990. Dr. Khan was honored with the Fulbright Post-doctoral Research Fellowship Award in 1995-96, while placed at Southern Illinois University Carbondale USA to conduct post-doctoral research on Communication and Environment Issues. Presently he is in charge of PhD program, Riphah Institute of Media Studies. He was honored of having the best teacher awards of Department of Communication, IIUM for the academic sessions, 2003-2004, 2004-2005. he was also honored with best teacher award of Department of Media and Communication Studies, International Islamic University Islamabad in 2007. In recognition of his research he was honored with ISO 9001:2000 Research Award 2004 as well.

Ayaz Ahmed Siddiqui

Dr. Ayaz Ahmed Siddiqui is a communications professional who has lived, studied and worked within the media industry in Karachi, London and Hong Kong for over a decade. His doctoral research is on the evolution of protest tactics of mainstream opposition groups in response to changing news media imperatives in Pakistan. His interests center on mediatization, contentious collective action, innovation and journalism. He has also studied editorial best practices among Asian news organisations, focusing on Daily Dawn, as part of a project supported by the Hong Kong Government. His work has also appeared in journals, Media Asia, Interface: A journal for and about social movements, and The Left Berlin, and in the press in The News, Livewire ( and The News on Sunday. Prior to joining Greenwich University Karachi as Assistant Professor, Dr. Siddiqui worked as a part-time lecturer and research associate in the School of Communication at the Hong Kong Baptist University. He has also worked for The News, Ahmed E.H Jaffer Foundation and He received his MA in Journalism and Media Communications at the University of Hertfordshire and Ph.D in Communication Studies from the Hong Kong Baptist University.

Muhammad Shahid Iqbal

Dr. Shahid Iqbal has more than twelve years of professional field and research experience. Currently, he is working on Water and Climate Change as the GIS specialist at the Institute of Space Technology (IST) Islamabad, Visiting Faculty at UET Peshawar, Member of various international Forums, and Climate and Water Expert with CRSC, NDRMF, Cameos and ADB. Dr. Iqbal has carried out Climate Change’s impact assessment on water resources and hydro climatic modeling for the Kabul River Basin during his Postdoc at Wageningen UR, the Netherlands and secured his PhD degree in Environmental Systems Analysis from Wageningen University NL. Lt Gen Naeem Khalid Lodhi (retd) HI(M)

Lt Gen Naeem Khalid Lodhi (retd) HI(M) Was commissioned in 1974 and joined Corps of Engineers in Pakistan Army. Served in various command assignments as Commander Corps Engineers, GOC and Corps Commander. Also served in staff as deputy Engineer in Chief and Director General Staff Duties at GHQ. After graduating from Military College of Engineering (civil engineering, first class honours), Command and Staff College Quetta and National Defence University, remained on the faculty of all the three prestigious institutions. Also holds masters degree in International Relations. Served as maintenance and construction engineer at Royal Saudi Airbase at Dharan for three years. Managed world class construction involving million of Riyals. As Deputy Engineer in Chief Pakistan Army Corps of Engineers dealt with management of Civil Engineering designs and execution of projects , including inspections and remedial measures. Is registered with Pakistan Engineering Council and Member of Institute of Engineers. Has vast experience of project evaluation and conflict resolution/arbitration during various tenures of service. Dr. Najma Sadiq

Dr. Najma Sadiq carries over 10 years of professional, teaching and research experience. She received doctorate in Communication Studies, specializing in conflict and war reporting related to Tribal Areas of Pakistan in 2011. She is the first female in Pakistan with a foreign PhD degree in Communication Studies. She is currently working on two HEC-funded projects related reporting in Pakistani media on Humanitarian Crisis and Human Trafficking. She has contributed a number of research articles in national and international journals and conferences. She has attended several seminars and delivered a number of lectures on issues like conflict resolution, terrorism in media, languages in Pakistan, Pakistani women, and intercultural management. She supervises BS and MS level theses in areas of her interest i.e. Peace Journalism, Conflict and War Reporting, Research Approaches for Conflict Coverage Analysis, Media Communication and Theories.

Zehra Arshad

Zehra Arshad is currently serving as the National Coordinator of Pakistan Coalition forEducation (PCE) for the last ten years. She has been leading PCE for last 10 years while linked to education sector for more than 15 years. Under her leadership, the coalition undertakes evidence based public policy advocacy on different aspects of education through engagement with policy makers, key officials and experts. Conducting policy reviews, suggests reforms and pro-people policies for improving education status in Pakistan through civil society participation at national, provincial and district level. Ms. Arshad is also a member of various international forums and thematic groups, representing civil society on various international networks like Collective Consultation of NGOs on Education for All (CCNGO/EFA), Global Campaign for Education (GCE), Asia South Pacific Association for Basic and Adult Education (ASPBAE). She is also on board of various civil society organizations. She has conducted several researches and author of reports, and articles related to her area of work including education, women rights etc. She also has been working on development issues related to women, peace, health and education in various national and international professional organizations, networks and forums for last 17 years. She is a human rights activist and strong believer of inclusive and pluralistic approach for development. She is vocal and assertive about rights based approach, active citizenship and social accountability.

Dr. Nazir Hussain

Dr. Nazir Hussain is Associate Professor at the School of Politics and International Relations, Quaid-i- Azam University, Islamabad. He is associated with the University since 1985. He has also served as Senior Research Fellow on Middle East at the Institute of Strategic Studies, Islamabad in 2001-2002. He has over 30 years of teaching and research experience. He has to his credit a Post-Doc Research Fellowship from the French Institute of International Relations, IFRI, Paris-France (May-November 2010). He has Post Graduate Diploma in Conflict Resolution from the University of Uppsala-Sweden. He was Visiting Fellow at the Henry L. Stimson Centre, Washington DC., in summer 2000 working on ‘Nuclear Risk Reduction Measures in South Asia’, Research Associate with the International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC) in 1996-97 working on ‘International Humanitarian Law’, and Visiting Researcher at the Institute of Political and International Studies (IPIS), Tehran-Iran insummer 1995. Dr. Hussain has attended scores of national and international conferences, seminars, workshops and symposiums within and outside the country. He has written extensively on security issues in national and international research journals. He has written over 60 research articles, including two books; Strategic Dynamics of West Asia (2010), and Defence Production in the Muslim World: Limitations and Prospects (1989). He has also successfully supervised 05 Ph.D. and 50 M.Phil. theses; some of which have been published as book/research articles. He has also been associated with the electronic media since 1999. He has hosted various current affairs programs on Pakistan Television (PTV) and ATV. He has also hosted regular current affairs programs on Pakistan Radio during 2002-2007 and 2013-14. At present, he expresses his views on the electronic media as a security analyst.

Ms. Noshina Saleem

Ms. Noshina Saleem is Assistant Professor at Institute of Communication Studies. She is a Ph.D. in Communication Studies. She has worked and conducted research on various topics, some of her researches are: U.S. image in major English dailies Dawn, The Nation and The News with special reference to Pakistan United States relationship during post cold war era 1991-2004, Editorial treatment of U.S image in two English dailies The Pakistan and Dawn with reference to the Soviet military intervention in Afghanistan 1979-88, Cultural imperialism: A case study of the impact of dish antenna on Pakistani society, U.S. media framing of foreign countries image: An analytical perspective, Editorial treatment of U.S image in two English dailies The Pakistan Times and Dawn with reference to Soviet military intervention in Afghanistan (1979-88). Osman Asghar Khan is a certified Chartered Accountant from Ontario, Canada. He is a member of American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants (CICA) and Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP). He has been selected as Honorary Consul for Ireland in Pakistan and Afghanistan in October 2011. He is currently the Country Manager for SAP Pakistan. He was Director SG Technical Services (Pvt) Ltd, Islamabad. He has also been Country Manager for EMC Information Systems (Pvt) Ltd, Karachi, Pakistan. He also remained CFO and Operations Director for EMEA North & Eastern Europe. He was a financial controller for EMC Computer Systems (Benelux) BV, Nieuwegein, Netherlands. He has been an Audit Manager for various cooperation. He was part of the National Security Workshop at the National Defense University in 2015. He completed Sustaining High Performance Course at IMD in Lausanne.

Ramadhan Hamza Mohammed

Ramadhan Hamza Mohammed is a renowned regional senior expert on water Strategies and Policies, Integrated Water Resources Managements IWRM, Geo- Environment Pollution, water-energy-food nexus, water- health- education nexus, climate change and sustainable renewable energy technologies. Currently, he is a director of Media at the University of Duhok. He has been Chairman and member of Board of several constructions and Environment organizations, J.V companies in Iraq and NGOs. He published more than 35 papers and technical reports and one book. His main research interests are Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (EIA & SIA), Geo –Environment Seismic and Geotechnical investigations, and media. Since his graduation in 1978 he worked in the field of journalism and has written numerous scientific articles in local newspapers and addressed a scientific program titled Science and Man for more than ten years in one of the local TV. He is a member of Iraqi Kurdistan Region journalists union. He is also a member of international journalists union and is currently director of the Media University of Duhok. Rehan Hasan

Being amongst the first few, who advocated democratization in information broadcasting, which lead to the opportunity of developing private news channels in the country, Mr. Rehan's professional contribution ranges on a span of 30 years, where he worked on principal positions of various renowned news and recreative media organizations of Pakistan. Mr. Rehan is currently working with Riphah International University as the Director of Riphah Institute of Media Sciences. He is also the President of Safetynet Pakistan, which is a not for profit initiative contributing in the development sector of Pakistan since 1998, and spearheading a development think tank titled “Resolve”. Under his shadow, Riphah Institute of Media Sciences ended up conducting seven international conferences from which one was co-hosted by United Nations Pakistan focused on Media and its developmental role in Pakistan. Along with these the institution ended up producing the first UHD short film titled “Alif” and hosted several relevant seminars and film competitions. Saleem Ali Jury

Saleem H. Ali is known for his work on environmental conflict resolution. Professor Ali previously served as Chair in Sustainable Resource Development and professor of sustainability science and policy at University of Queensland in Australia. He also was a professor of environmental studies at the University of Vermont's Rubenstein School of Natural Resources, and founding director of the Institute for Environmental Diplomacy and Security. Professor Ali is also a senior fellow at the Columbia Center on Sustainable Investment and retains an appointment as a professorial research fellow at the University of Queensland.

Sadaffe Abid

Sadaffe Abid is co-founder CIRCLE, a social enterprise with the mission to develop, support and build the entrepreneurial and leadership capacity of women and youth in Pakistan. She initiated the Elevate Campaign to increase women's participation on panels and forums where several corporate and social sector leaders have joined to support women's advancement. Prior to this, she managed Kashf Foundation as COO and CEO, one of Forbes Top 50 microfinance institutions which she helped grow from a pilot in two rooms to serve 300,000 women clients in Pakistan. During her tenure Kashf received the AGFUND International Prize and Grameen Trust Microfinance Excellence Award. Sadaffe is a Social Entrepreneur-in-Residence at INSEAD. Since 2014, she is a lecturer on social entrepreneurship at Cedep, INSEAD. Her work at Kashf is profiled in Nicholas Kristof’s book, Half the Sky and Isobel Coleman's book, Paradise Beneath Her Feet. Sadaffe completed her Masters at the Harvard Kennedy School, Advanced Management Program at INSEAD and her B.A. at Mount Holyoke College. Dr Shabana Fayyaz

Shafiqul Islam

Shafiqul Islam earned his Sc.D. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and is a Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Professor of Water Diplomacy at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University. He is the Director of the Water Diplomacy Program. Professor Islam works on availability, access and allocation of water within the context of climate challenges, health, and diplomacy. He seeks interdisciplinary approaches to create actionable knowledge by blending science, engineering, policy, and politics in contextually relevant ways using complexity science, systems thinking, principled pragmatism, and negotiation theory. Professor Islam maintains a diverse network of national and international partnerships and is engaged in several national and international consulting and training practices in the United States, South Asia, Africa, and Middle East. Dr. Shahid Mahmud

Dr. Shahid Mahmud is the Chairman and Group CEO of Interactive Group, an organization that has pioneered the advancement of telecommunications, Information Technology, and media infrastructure in Pakistan. He has over 36 years of experience, serving on various Federal Committees of the Government of Pakistan, helping to formulate and implement national IT and telecom policies. Shazia Hashmat

Ms. Shazia Hashmat is an Assistant Professor and currently Incharge of the Department of Communication and Media Studies at Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU), Rawalpindi. Sohail Inayatullah

Professor Sohail Inayatullah /sə'heɪl ɪnaɪʌ'tʊla/, a political scientist, is Professor at Tamkang University, Taipei (Graduate Institute of Futures Studies); Associate, Mt. Eliza Executive Education, Melbourne Business School, and Adjunct Professor at the University of the Sunshine Coast (Faculty of Social Sciences and the Arts). In 2015, Professor Inayatullah was awarded the first UNESCO Chair in Futures Studies. In 2010, he was awarded the Laurel award for all-time best futurist by the Shaping Tomorrow Foresight Network. In March 2011, he was awarded an honorary doctorate by Universiti Sains Malaysia, Penang. He received his doctorate from the University of Hawaii in 1990. Inayatullah has lived in Islamabad, Pakistan; Bloomington, Indiana; Flushing, New York; Geneva, Switzerland; Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; Honolulu, Hawaii; and currently resides in Mooloolaba, Australia. Inayatullah is the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Futures Studies and on the editorial boards of Futures, Prout Journal, East West Affairs, World Future Review, and Foresight. He has written more than 350 journal articles, book chapters, encyclopaedia entries and magazine editorials. His articles have been translated into a variety of languages, including Catalan, Spanish, Urdu, Hindi, Bengali, Italian, Japanese, Russian, Indonesian, Farsi, Arabic, and Mandarin. Inayatullah has also written and co-edited twenty-two books/cdroms, including: What Works: Case Studies in the Practice of Foresight; CLA 2.0: Transformative Research in Theory and Practice (2015); Questioning the Future: Methods and Tools for Organizational and Societal Transformation (2007); and, Macrohistory and Macrohistorians: Perspectives on Individual, Social, and Civilizational Change (1997). Forthcoming in 2016 is Asia 2030: The Rise of Women, the Rights of Robots, and the Emergence of Post-Capitalism.

Dr. Sohail Naqvi

Dr. S. Sohail H. Naqvi joined LUMS as the fourth Vice Chancellor of the university in July 2013. He has served as the Executive Director of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) for 8 years. At the HEC, he helped develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for the revival of the higher education sector of Pakistan. With a PhD in Electrical Engineering and extensive teaching and research experience both in the US and Pakistan, Dr. Naqvi has a number of patents to his credit. He has also worked with startups bringing high-tech innovations to the market place. Dr. Naqvi oversaw the development and implementation of over PKR 15 Billion worth of higher education programmes as a member of the Human Resource Development & Strategic Planning at HEC. He was also member of the Human Resource Development at Ministry of Science and Technology, IT&T Division, Pakistan. Prior to that, Dr. Naqvi filled in as the Vice President Operations at Communications Enabling Technologies, Islamabad.Dr. Naqvi earned his BSc, MSc and PhD degrees (all in Electrical Engineering) from Purdue University, USA. He served as an Assistant and Associate Professor of Electrical Engineering at the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque, USA, before returning to Pakistan in 1995 to join the Faculty of Electronics at the GIK Institute of Technology. He remained at GIKI until end of 1999 as Professor and Dean. He joined the HEC in 2002 and became its Executive Director in 2004.Dr. Naqvi, co-developed scatterometry as a metrology technique and process sensor for micro-electronic and opto-electronic fabrication and transferred to Bio-Rad Laboratories. The commercial metrology tool (CDS-2 Scatterometer) is now available for sale and is considered a key tool for future sub quarter micron (i.e. Pentium IV-V) generation microprocessors. He was the Project Director for $1.1 Million task to design, prototype, assemble and install a computerized networked, state-of-the-art, toll collection system on the Lahore-Islamabad (330km long) Motorway.He is one of the founding members of Ibero-American Science and Technology Education Consortium (ISTEC), a non-profit organisation comprised of educational, research, and industrial institutions throughout America and the Iberian Peninsula. The Consortium has been established to foster scientific, engineering, and technology education, joint international research and development efforts among its members, and to provide a cost-effective vehicle for the application and transfer of technology.Also, he is the founding member of Engineering Education Trust (EET), a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to the development of higher education in Pakistan. The Centre for Advanced Studies in Engineering (CASE: ) is the first project of EET that in one year's time, became the largest post-graduate engineering programme in Pakistan.

Souniel Mehboob

Mr. Souniel Mehboob is a Senior Project Officer at Christian Study Centre (CSC). CSC was founded in 1967 as an institution firmly rooted in Christian-Muslim dialogue to promote research and greater understanding. Mr. Souniel Mehboob has an extensive experience in Christian – Muslim relations, interfaith harmony, dialogue, human rights and peacebuilding. He has been working in the social sector for the last nine years and is engaged at national, community, and grassroots level for the protection and promotion of interfaith harmony, peace and human rights. He has also worked in the National Commission for Justice for Peace, governed by the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Pakistan, for minority rights and helping to alleviate the marginalized niche of society from religious intolerance, social discrimination and injustice.

Suzanne Temwa Harris

Suzanne Temwa Harris is currently a Media and Communications PhD candidate with a Masters in Media and International Development. She has worked for various media-related organisations such as the Open Society Foundation as a Media and Youth Coordinator, a researcher for MTV's Staying Alive Foundation (multi-media HIV/AIDS campaign) and Beyond Good Intentions as a freelance journalist focusing on the non-effectiveness of foreign aid. She has also started her own business called Changing the Face of Africa that supports and promotes media analysis and literacy through critical thinking.

Tarek Mounir

Tarek Mounir is an Egyptian journalist, and traditional and new media relations reporter. At the same time he is the head of the Cultural Section of Al-Raai newspaper, as well as a columnist, translator, and producer. He has served as an Egypt correspondent for the Paris-based watchdog organization Worldwide Press Freedom and Reporters Without Borders since 2005, and as a team member of the cross-cultural joint project HijabSkirt Info since 2010.

Ujjwal Acharya

Ujjwal Acharya is the IFJ South Asia Coordinator. He holds a Masters degree in Journalism and Mass Communication and worked as a journalist from a trainee reporter to the digital editor in mainstream English and Nepali newspapers in Nepal for 14 years. He also chaired the Digital Media Committee as the Federation of Nepal Journalists (FNJ) from 2011 to 2013. Acharya is Nepal’s pioneer blogger, and led the web’s fight for democracy during autocratic regime in 2004. He was the founder chairman of the Center for Media Research - Nepal. He is a media rights activist, journalism lecturer and journalism trainer specializing in online journalism, digital safety, advocacy, campaigning and press freedom.

Wendy Dent

WENDY DENT is an award winning investigative documentary film producer, writer, speaker, and entrepreneur. She is also a World Economic Forum Young Global Leader (2013-2018), the founder of the Industry Intervention, Cinemmerse, and Human Rights On Film, and a consultant on film, technology and international issues. Ms Dent served as 2012 Visiting Filmmaker/ Scholar at University of Southern California (USC) School of Cinematic Arts, the world's top ranked film school. She has spoken on international politics on CNNi and on the film industry at the World Economic Forum Summer Davos, and has been a guest-speaker at Harvard, Columbia, UC Berkeley, Stanford and other universities with special screenings and discussions of her Zimbabwe human rights documentary 'No News From Harare' . Ms Dent is also a recipient of Australian national public speaking and young achiever awards. With over 15 years of experience, her work filmed and screened across five continents, and her writing published in leading scholarly and trade publications. she has also built up a diverse range of credits and awards as a writer, director, cinematographer, editor and producer. Wendy Dent has risked torture filming undercover in Zimbabwe, and rocket attacks on the sidelines of Gaza. Her documentaries have upturned the underbelly of the gigolo mafia in Bali, as well as the inspiring side of life in the favelas of Brazil. Her latest release documentary 'December 25' is a Palm Springs International Short Film Festival jury award winner (the largest festival and market for short films in northern America) and world-premiered to audience and critical acclaim at the prestigious 'International Documentary Film-Festival Amsterdam' (IDFA), the world's largest documentary film festival. Most of her work focuses on international politics, security, corruption, illicit trade and human rights.

Dr. M. Zafar Iqbal

Zafar Iqbal, Ph.D., carries over twenty-three years of teaching and research experience, received doctorate in mass communication in 2003. He serves at International Islamic University, Islamabad and published in the reputed national and international journals. During last ten years, he spent remained a post-doctorate scholar at the University of Surrey, UK, University of Southern California, LA, USA and as Chevening Fellow at University of Oxford, UK. His work aims at exploring the negative sentiments that historically exit between Muslims and non Muslims, and attempts to figure out the present state of hostility towards Muslims/Islam in the contemporary media dominated world. His basic assumption explains that Islamophobia as a phenomenon is historic in nature and contemporary construction is mainly mediated and its epistemic/symbolic dimension has different connotations. As such, its construction is rendered in a pluralistic manner; hence, it appears as a corpus constituted of Islamophobias. He tested an instrument for measuring Islamophobia in the epistemological spheres by finding its nexus with media and other social antecedents.

Dr. M. Zafar Iqbal Cheema

Dr. M. Zafar Iqbal Cheema is the President & Executive Director of the Strategic Vision Institute (SVI), Islamabad. Dr. Zafar I Cheema is the former Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, Meritorious Professor of Strategic Studies & Chairman (2005 – 2008), and Founding Member of the Department of Defence & Strategic Studies (DSS), Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU), Islamabad – Pakistan. He was previously Professor and Chairman DSS, QAU (1993 1998) and (2005-2008). He also served as Professor / Head of Department of Strategic and Nuclear Studies (S&NS), National Defence University, Islamabad, Pakistan (2011 – 2012). Dr. Cheema was the Head of M Phil and Ph D Committees of both, at DSS Department, QAU and S&NS (Department), NDU. DR. Cheema also has some additional appointments; Member HEC’s (Higher Education Commission), Committee of Social Sciences and Humanities, Islamabad, Head HEC’s Sub-Committee on the Disciplines of International Relations and Strategic Studies, for recommending quality Journals, Chairperson, Board of Faculty, Social Sciences, QUA, Islamabad, Senior Member, Advanced Studies Research Board, Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad and Chairperson, Board of Studies, Department of Defence & Strategic Studies, QAU, Islamabad. Dr. Cheema holds a PhD from Department of War Studies, King’s College London (1987-91) in War Studies and specialized in Strategic & Nuclear Studies. He also holds an Advanced Diploma in Peace and Conflict Research from University of Uppsala, Sweden (1994), Masters in International Relations from Quaid-i-Azam University (1978), Islamabad, and Masters in Political Science from Punjab University, Lahore (1971). Dr. Cheema was honoured with four (4) post-doctoral awards: A, (Department of Peace and Conflict Research, Uppsala University, Sweden(Summer 1994); B, (Fulbright Fellowship at School of Foreign Service, Georgetown University, Washington D.C., (1995-96); C, (Commonwealth Fellowship at King’s College London (1999-2000); and D, (Quaid-i-Azam Fellowship (Jinnah Chair) at St. Antony’s College, Oxford University, oxford – U.K. (Jan 2001 – Dec 2004). At the end of last fellowship at Oxford, he was honoured as Senior Associate Member of St. Antony’s College (Jan –June 2005). DR. Cheema has 35 Years of postgraduate research and teaching experience: 25 years at QAU and 10 years cumulatively at Georgetown University, King’s college London, Antony’s College, Oxford University and 1 year at NDU. The QAU experience also includes 10 years of academic administration such as Dean, Social Sciences, Chairperson DSS, and President Research and Publications Cell, QAU, Islamabad Dr. Cheema has authored one and edited three books. He has also published 35 research papers / book chapters. DR. Cheema participated in approximately 100 International Seminars / Conferences and presented papers in many of those.

Zulfikar Ali Bader

Zulfikar Ali Bader was born and raised in the historical city of Lahore the heart of Pakistan. Zulfikar earned an MBA in IT from Pakistan and completed another MBA with three majors from the Ashland University, Ohio. He earned his fifth degree in Law from the University of the Punjab Lahore and currently enrolled for his LLM degree. Zulfikar is a former banker, had hosted live talk shows on current affaris. He started his career as a visiting faculty member teaching to MBA students and later to Law students. He represented Pakistan as an election observer in the 2008 US presidential and also represented Pakistan in China South Asia future Political Leaders conference organized by CPC in Beijing. He is the CEO of Bader & Bader Law Associates. He is active life member of Lahore District Bar, Punjab Bar Council, and Lahore High Court Bar Association. He is also the CEO of a Non Profit Organization named, Institute of Vision and Leadership through which he have helped and been a mentor for young entrepreneurs due to which his repute has been extended in the entire South Asia. He is currently representing Pakistan regionally in SAARC chamber Young Entrepreneur Forum as a Vice Chairman and he has played role in organizing the conferences in different countries of South Asia. Due to his extra ordinary services for creating an impact and making a difference in the region, the World Economic Forum honored him as a Young Global Leader (YGL) in 2015.
